China has re-emerged as a global power in the 21st century. In collaboration with the King’s College London Lau China Institute, PS21 gathers together an expert panel of ‘China watchers’ to discuss China’s resurgence, how this is shaping the world and what it means for the future.

Moderator — Peter Apps, Global Affairs columnist for Reuters and founder of PS21

Professor Kerry Brown, Director of the Lau China Institute at King’s College, London and Associate for Chinese Affairs at Chatham House. In previous roles, Kerry was head of the Asia Programme at Chatham House and first secretary at the British embassy in Beijing. He writes frequently on China and his most recent book is ‘China’s World: What Does China Want?’ published 2017.

Alicia Liu, founder and director of Singing Grass — a strategic communications consultancy that connects the world with China through arts, lifestyle and culture. Alicia has worked with brands including the Royal Academy of Arts, V&A, Gieves and Hawkes, London Book Fair, Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair, as well as personalities ranging from Chinese classical pianist Yundi, contemporary Chinese artist Zhang Huan to British footballer David Beckham.

Jonathan Fenby, is an author, journalist and analyst. He is currently Managing Director of the China team at Trusted Sources and previously he edited the Observer newspaper and the South China Morning Post. He is the author of ‘Will China Dominate the 21st Century?’ and ‘Tiger Head, Snake Tails: China Today’.

Isabel Hilton OBE, founder of chinadialogue.net an online publication that focuses on the environment and climate change. She was presenter for the BBC’s flagship news programme ‘The World Tonight’ and has worked for a number of publications including The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Guardian, and the New Yorker.
